MLB: Tigers extend season with 5-3 win over White Sox

Associated Press

DETROIT — Justin Verlander and Ryan Raburn gave the Detroit Tigers at least one more game.

Raburn hit two homers and Magglio Ordonez had a solo shot to lead slumping Detroit over the Chicago White Sox 5-3 Sunday, assuring the Tigers of at least a tiebreaker for the AL Central title.

The Tigers and Twins began the day tied for the division lead. The Twins were playing at home against Kansas City.

If they're still all even after the day, the Twins would host a one-game playoff Tuesday.

Detroit won for only the third time in eight games.
