A 17-year-old passenger involved in a fatal car crash that killed his brother on Wednesday died from his injuries today, Maui police said.

Jared Kalamaku Kana, of Waihee, was pronounced dead at Maui Memorial Medical Center, police said.
He was the brother of the driver of the 2004 Mazda sedan, Nailima Kana, 20, of Waihee, who died on the day of the crash.
The front seat passenger, Tyson Latham, 20, of Waihee, was pronounced dead at Maui Memorial Medical Center on Thursday.
Kana was driving north on Kahekili Highway near Wiliopohaku Street when he lost control, crossed the centerline, returned to the northbound lane and then collided with an embankment, police said.
Jared Kana’s death is the 17th traffic-related fatality this year in Maui County, compared to 14 at the same time last year.
