The Bishop Museum is offering a new "Furlough Friday" program of events for families whose children will be excused from classes due to education department cutbacks.

The program includes hands-on lessons through the use of the museum's objects and exhibits and offers a chance for learning and interaction between students and museum experts. It was also developed to assist parents of Bishop Museum employees and supporters.
The Furlough Friday program will be offered on the following days: Oct. 23 and 30, Nov. 6 and 20, Dec. 2, 11 and 18, Jan. 15 and 29, Feb. 5 and 12, March 5 and 12, April 23 and 30 and May 7 and 14.
The cost of a one-day program is $25 per day for Bishop Museum members, $35 for others. A 10 percent discount is being offered for participants who sign up for five Fridays.
