NFL: Cowboys sign CB Gordon to fill roster vacancy

Associated Press

IRVING, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys signed cornerback Cletis Gordon on Tuesday, filling a vacancy on the 53-man roster and bolstering a secondary that might be without starting safety Gerald Sensabaugh for the next month.

Gordon has been with San Diego, Houston and Detroit this season. He broke into the league with San Diego in 2006 when current Dallas coach Wade Phillips was the Chargers’ defensive coordinator.
In 30 career games, including one start, Gordon has 17 tackles, two pass breakups and 12 special teams tackles.
Sensabaugh broke a plate in his right thumb on Sunday. Alan Ball, who has been backing up at cornerback and safety, will be needed more at safety, so Gordon helps replenish the cornerbacks.
He also fills a special teams void after running back Chauncey Washington was released.
