Media Council Hawaii to file FCC challenge to KGMB, KHNL, KFVE merger

Advertiser Staff

Media Council Hawaii will conduct a news conference at 10 a.m. tomorrow to announce the filing of a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission to stop the planned merger of MCG Capital’s KGMB with Raycom Media’s KHNL and KFVE.

The Institute for Public Representation at Georgetown University Law Center is representing Media Council Hawaii.

The news conference will be held at the Musician’s Association offices, located at 949 Kapiolani Blvd.

KGMB, KHNL and KFVE announced last month that they plan to merge newsrooms, simulcast some news programs and cut about a third of their staffs.
