Stabbing suspect was highly intoxicated at time of attack

Advertiser Staff

Court records show that a man charged with stabbing a couple and their child had an extremely high blood-alcohol level at the time.

Twenty-year-old Sato Franklin Sigrah faces second-degree murder as well as attempted murder and burglary charges in the October 2008 attack.

Authorities say Sigrah walked into the unlocked McCully apartment of Keith and Lyola Mesebeluu and stabbed them multiple times, killing the woman. Their 2-year-old daughter was cut on her arm.

Sigrah later said he drank at least a half-bottle of vodka and three beers before the attack and had blacked out. His blood-alcohol level measured 0.19 percent hours after the attack — more than twice the legal limit for driving.

A judge has found Sigrah mentally unfit to stand trial. The court will review his mental fitness again next month.
