Tiger shark sighting closes Baldwin Beach for 2 hours

Baldwin Beach on Maui's North Shore was reopened at 12:30 p.m. yesterday after the sighting of a 10-foot tiger shark. The beach had been closed at 10:30 a.m.

County of Maui Aquatics Chief Mary Kielty said the shark was observed about 400 yards offshore.

No injuries were reported.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources was notified.
