UH-Nevada hoops game in January to be on national TV

University of Hawaii press release

The University of Hawai‘i men’s basketball team will now have a minimum of three nationally televised during the 2009-10 season with the addition of a conference road game against Nevada.

UH’s game at the Lawlor Events Center Jan. 30 will be televised live on ESPNU at 7:00 p.m. PT (5 p.m. HT).

In addition to the WAC regular-season game, Hawai‘i will make its first national television appearance of the year when they participate in ESPN’s College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. UH’s Rainbow Classic match-up against Northern Colorado on Nov. 16 will be broadcast live on ESPN at 11:00 p.m. HT.

UH’s second appearance will come on ESPNU when they face the College of Charleston on Dec. 22 (7:30 p.m. HT) in the opening round of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. Depending on the team’s results, the Rainbow Warriors could have up to two additional ESPN broadcasts during the inaugural tournament.

On Feb. 20, the Rainbow Warriors participate in the eighth annual ESPNU BracketBusters event and are a designated home team for the second straight year. A total of 13 select matchups will televised from a pool of 49 games, with that announcement coming on Feb. 1. In addition, the 2010 WAC Tournament in Reno, Nev., will also have games carried by the ESPN family of networks.
