Wastewater spill makes Ala Wai Canal even dirtier

About 800 gallons of wastewater entered a storm drain that empties into the Ala Wai Canal today, the state Department of Health’s Clean Water Branch said.

The agency that the result after about 1,000 gallons of wastewater were discharged at 2424 Date St. because of paper towels.
The agency said the area was cleaned and disinfected, warning signs posted and water samples taken. The public is advised to stay away from the area.
