The Waikiki Health Center will celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by offering free clinical breast screenings during October at its 277 Ohua Ave. clinic in Waikiki and at its Ho'ola Like clinic in Hale'iwa.

ASTRONAUT, AUTHOR TALK AT SACRED HEARTS

RAIL STATION WORKSHOP SET FOR THURSDAY

The city will hold a Honolulu Rail Transit station design workshop from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pearl Ridge Elementary School. The "touch down" sections, where the elevated portions of the rail station meet the street, will be discussed, including color, landscaping, entryway design, exterior and interior wall finishes, seating areas, and plaques and monuments for the station.

The community workshop is the second of three planned for the Pearl Ridge station, which will be near the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and Kaonohi Street. Read more at www.myadvertiser.com/aiea.

RESTORING POWER IN AMERICAN SAMOA

Kaua'i Island Utility Cooperative employees Bobby Koteles and Jeremy McKelvy traveled to Pago Pago, American Samoa, last week to help the American Samoa Power Authority with restoration efforts for customers without power in the wake of a destructive tsunami. Koteles and McKelvy will assist ASPA with rebuilding its transmission and distribution system.

PRICE BUSTERS OPENS AT KAPOLEI COMMONS

The Second City's second Price Busters store opened last week, in Kapolei Commons next to Genki Sushi.

The discount store offers party supplies, holiday decor, and home decorating products.

SEE 'CHILDREN'S THEATRE' AT 'IOLANI SCHOOL

'Iolani School theater students will present an "Evening of Children's Theatre" at 7 p.m. Saturday in the school's Seto Hall. The program includes "Cinderella in China," "Puss in Boots," the Korean tale "A Dandelion's Story" and the Japanese story "Mr. Lucky Straw." Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the 'Iolani Dramatic Players, who will represent Hawai'i and the United States at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival next August. VOLUNTEERS PITCH IN AT HAMAKUA MARSH

More than 100 volunteers from the Actus Lend Lease office on O'ahu joined wildlife staff of the Department of Land and Natural Resources on Oct. 2 to help improve habitat for native birds in the Hamakua Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary and Kawainui Marsh. Volunteers planted native plants, picked up litter and removed invasive weeds between the wildlife sanctuary and adjacent parking lots and businesses along Kawainui Stream.
