NFL changes kickoff times for potential conflict

Associated Press

NEW YORK — The kickoff times of the Giants-Eagles and Vikings-Packers games Nov. 1 have been flipped because of the possibility of a World Series game in Philadelphia that night.

Giants-Eagles will now start at 1 p.m. EST, with Minnesota-Green Bay at 4:15 EST.

If the Phillies reach the World Series, they'd host Game 4 at 8 p.m. that day. The NFL said Tuesday that moving the football game earlier would ease the burden on city and law enforcement employees who work at the two Philadelphia stadiums and staff the shared parking lots.

The Phillies beat the Rockies on Monday night to make the NL championship series. The NFL decided to change the game times before it was known whether the team would reach the World Series to give fans sufficient notice.
