USS Ronald Reagan to stop in Isles on way to California

Advertiser Staff

The USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier is due to visit Pearl Harbor on its way home to San Diego from a deployment to the Middle East and Africa.

The Reagan and its 6,000-person crew are due to arrive at Pearl Harbor today for a brief stay in the Islands.

The ship recently spent more than two months assisting U.S. forces and their allies fighting in Afghanistan, countering pirates off the Somali coast and the Horn of Africa, and protecting Iraqi infrastructure in the Persian Gulf.

The sailors will be joined by 850 family members and friends for the roughly five-day voyage back home to California from Hawai'i.
