5 shot in Aliamanu, suspect at-large

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu police continue to search for a gunman who fired a shotgun at a group of males, wounding five, during an early morning fight today.

The males, ages 17, 18 and 21, were not seriously injured, police said. All were taken to The Queen’s Medical Center where they were treated and released.
The incident began shortly after midnight in Aliamanu Village when a group of males in two cars drove past the victims, who were hanging out in a driveway, police said. The cars stopped and the males got out and challenged the other group to a fight, police said.
Police said the victims ran down the street to fight, but discovered that the other males were armed with baseball bats, pipes and sticks. The victims turned and ran, but one of the males in the other group fired a shotgun at the fleeing males, striking five of them, police said.
Police were called, but the second group had fled before officers arrived. The case has been classified as an attempted murder.
