DNA from body of New Mexico tourist matches suspect's

Advertiser Staff

DNA recovered from a New Mexico tourist found dead on Waikiki Beach matched that of murder suspect Aaron Susa, according to a police affidavit filed in state court.

The sample from victim Bryanna Antone matched Susa's DNA profile on file at the Hawaii Criminal Justice Information System, the affidavit said. Susa, 31, had been convicted of drug offenses here in 2005.

The Advertiser incorrectly reported in yesterday's edition that Antone's body contained a mixture of sperm from two men. The DNA profile of only one male, Susa, was found in a sample taken from Antone's body.

The body of Antone, 25, a college student from Rio Rancho, N.M., was found Oct. 2 floating in nearshore waters off the Royal Hawaiian hotel.

Susa was arrested Oct. 5 in Makiki and charged with second-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty on Monday and was being held on $500,000 bail.
