North Hawaii Community Hospital nurses reach contract agreement

Unionized registered nurses at North Hawaii Community Hospital have reached an agreement with management on their first labor contract.

The three-year agreement covers 85 Nurses employed by NHCH and will be effective from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2012, according to a news release from Hawaii Nurses’ Association, which negotiated the contract on behalf of the nurses.
“This has been an incredible journey to reach a first contract for the professional RN’s at North Hawaii Community Hospital,” said said HNA Executive Director Patt A. Gibbs.
Hospital Chief Executive John R. White said, “Negotiations were strenuous and lengthy, but produced a first-time contract with our registered nurses that is fair to them and to the hospital as well.”
