CFB: Snowstorm closes 20,000 parking spaces for Penn St. football game

Associated Press

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State has banned tailgating for Saturday’s game against Minnesota and urged fans to carpool or walk to Beaver Stadium after a snowstorm forced the closure of most grass lots, eliminating 20,000 parking spaces.

Almost six inches of snow covered the lots by Friday afternoon. Forecasters predict up to six more inches overnight into Saturday.
The university says the lots are impassable for vehicular traffic. They are scrambling to find parking, including off-campus spaces with shuttle service.
Tailgating and tents are banned in all remaining lots to conserve space, though alcohol is not prohibited.
This is homecoming weekend at Penn State, with the No. 14 Nittany Lions and Gophers kicking off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
