Expect cooler, dryer than normal weather this winter
Hawaii is likely to be cooler and dryer than normal this winter.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said an El Niņo weather event that warms parts of the Pacific, affecting weather worldwide, will be a major player in U.S. winter temperatures.
Forecasters are predicting cooler temperatures from southern Texas to the Mid-Atlantic and in Hawaii.
Mike Halpert is the deputy director of NOAA's Climate Prediction Center.
He said Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest and part of the Midwest from Michigan to Arkansas also are more likely to be drier than normal.
