UH soccer loses at New Mexico State in OT

New Mexico State's Jazmin Cardoso sank a penalty kick with 35 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Aggies soccer team to a 2-1 Western Athletic Conference win over Hawai’i today in Las Cruces, N.M.

NMSU's Natalie Nichols drew a foul in the penalty box to set up Cardoso's kick in the 99th minute.

The match was scoreless until Crystal Burns scored in the 82nd minute to give the Aggies (9-5-1, 4-0-1 WAC) a 1-0 lead. Hawai'i (5-9-1, 1-3 WAC) tied it in the 84th on a free kick from Ambree Ako.

NMSU is in its first year of competition.
