Everyday actions can make difference

By Kelcee Fujimoto

As the Native Hawaiians believed, we must take care of the land because it takes care of us.The land is our home, and as with all other privileges, if we abuse it, we lose it. Most people don't give a thought about where natural resources such as water come from. But as time goes on, our reliance on the resources is growing, while supply is diminishing.

While we still can, we need to let everyone know that their everyday actions make a difference in our environment. Taking shorter showers preserves the water supply, picking up trash helps keep the environment clean, and something as simple as recycling an empty bottle can have a huge impact down the road.

We need to raise awareness — improving the health of our land and natural resources cannot be put off any longer.
