Kapiolani Community College lecturer David Keanu Sai will speak Wednesday in the Keelikolani Performing Arts Center's third-floor choral room on the Kapalama campus of Kamehameha Schools.

Drawing from his recent doctoral dissertation in political science and a law journal article written last year, Sai will discuss historical and legal contexts that challenge the concept of ceded lands.

Locally owned Helemano Farms will open for Christmas tree sales Nov. 27. Helemano Farms cuts, wraps and loads trees for customers, who choose from among thousands of Norfolk pines, from 5 to 20 feet tall.

Advance-sale Christmas tree tickets are also available for community organizations to fundraise.

The Windward Ahupuaa Alliance will hold a HI-5 redemption drive Saturday to benefit the after-school athletic programs at Kalaheo, Kailua and Castle high schools.

The drive runs from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at two locations:Castle High School and Pohakapu Park, opposite Castle Medical Center in Kailua. Cash donations also will be accepted at both locations. Call 768-5015.

Teens For Christ Hawaii — the youth group of the Filipino United Church of Christ in Waipahu — adopted August Ahrens Elementary School for Adopt A School Day on Oct. 11. Forty-one teens and adults painted sidewalks and planted trees around the school. Recycled materials such as bottles, cans and newspapers were also donated. Kalani High School is selling Christmas trees to help fund Project Graduation 2010 for seniors. Kalani will also donate trees to the two Ronald McDonald Charities of Hawaii locations.

All trees are 6- to 7-foot sheared Douglas firs and sell for $65. Detailed order information can be found on the school's Web site, www.kalanihigh.com. Orders must be received by Friday, with trees available for pick-up Dec. 5.
