Waipahu barricade situation resolved without injury

Police took a 53-year-old man into custody about 3:30 this morning after he kept them at bay for more than eight hours at a business on Awanei Street in Waipahu..

Police were sent to the site about 7 p.m. after callers reported hearing gunshots coming from inside an area business.
More shots were heard after officers arrived and they blocked off surrounding streets..
The police Specialized Services Division was sent to the scene, and crisis negotiators were able to coax the man into coming out.
Police found no one else inside the building.
The Red Cross set up a shelter at Waipahu District Park to aid residents of nearby apartment buildings who were displaced by the incident.
Police have opened a reckless endangering investigation.
