Kamehameha alum Andrade named WAC volleyball player of the week

San Jose State setter Caitlin Andrade, a Kamehameha Schools graduate, was named Western Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week for the week today, the conference announced today.

Andrade, a freshman from Kailua, had 133 assists, 49 digs, 14 kills and eight aces in three matches as the Spartans picked up their first win of the season. She had career highs of 54 assists and four aces to go with 15 digs and five kills in a five-set victory over Louisiana Tech, San Jose State’s first win of the season.
Hawai’i’s nominee for the honor was Aneli Cubi-Otineru, who averaged 3.75 kills, 2.25 digs and 1.00 service aces in a four-set win over New Mexico State. The win gave head coach Dave Shoji his 1,000th career victory.
