Butigroove reopens on Piikoi Street seven months after fire

Advertiser Staff

Butigroove, the local boutique that made a name for itself selling Obama t-shirts, has reopened its Piikoi St. store seven months after an arsonist’s fire destroyed it.

Owner B.J. Sabate said the 600-square-foot space was rebuilt and the store has secured four parking stalls on Kona Street to better serve customers along with opening until 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
“Insurance covered it all,” Sabate said, talking about the store. But “we still haven’t found the arsonist.”
The store had temporarily been operating out of a smaller space on Kapiolani Boulevard during the renovation work.
