Andrade honored by WAC

San Jose State setter Caitlin Andrade, a Kamehameha Schools graduate, was named Western Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week yesterday.

Andrade, a freshman from Kailua, had 133 assists, 49 digs, 14 kills and eight aces in three matches as the Spartans (1-16, 1-5 WAC) picked up their first win of the season.

She had career highs of 54 assists and four aces to go with 15 digs and five kills in a five-set victory over Louisiana Tech.

Hawai'i's nominee for the honor was Aneli Cubi-Otineru.

UH-HILO RANKED 17TH

The Hawai'i-Hilo women's volleyball team moved up two spots to No. 17 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II poll.

The Vulcans (20-1, 10-1 Pacific West) went 3-0 in league play last week. Hilo hosts the Academy of Art (Calif.) Friday and Saturday.

Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.) (23-0) remained at No. 1.

MAUI TICKETS OFFERED

Chaminade's Hui 'Ähinahina Booster Club is selling all-tournament tickets for next month's EA Sports Maui Invitational basketball tournament.

The package for booster level is $500 for entry to all 12 tournament games, Nov. 23 to 25 at Lahaina Civic Center.

The teams are Arizona, Chaminade, Cincinnati, Colorado, Gonzaga, Maryland, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.
