HECO joins national campaign to promote electric vehicle use

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Electric Co. said it’s joined a national campaign promoting the commercialization of electric vehicles.

The state’s largest utility said it is joining 17 other utilities in pledging to support the creation of infrastructure for plug-in electric vehicles.
HECO already has worked to promote the vehicles, including testing electric vehicles in fleets and requiring new sedans purchased for the fleet be hybrid electric vehicles.
The utility also has an agreement with Better Place, a company that wants to install electric vehicle charging and battery swap stations here.
