Just Tacos Grill & Cantina has been added to the lineup of the neighborhood retail center being developed at Ko Olina Resort & Marina in West Oahu.

The planned 135-seat restaurant at Ko Olina Station will be the largest for the 3-year-old Hawaii chain established by Jesus Santoyo, who turned a college business plan into a taco stand in Downtown Honolulu.

A second Just Tacos opened in Pearl City, but Santoyo expanded the concept from fast-food tacos to a full-service restaurant featuring a diverse menu and more than 400 tequilas with a third location in Mililani and a fourth location under construction in Guam.

The Ko Olina Just Tacos is slated to open late this year or early next year.

ISLE FIRM LANDS GUAM CONSTRUCTION DEAL

Architects Hawaii Ltd. has obtained a piece of U.S. military base construction work on Guam.

A partnership led by the Honolulu-based firm has been awarded a federal contract potentially worth up to $50 million for infrastructure design and engineering work related to building facilities to accommodate 8,000 Marines and their dependents being relocated from Japan to Guam.

Work is set to begin by year's end for an initial one-year contract that could be extended four more years.

Other partners in the joint venture are Guam-based Setiadi Architects LLC, Japan-based Gushiken Architectural Engineering Co. Ltd. and a host of subcontractors.

HECO PROMOTING ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Hawaiian Electric Co. has joined a national campaign promoting the commercialization of electric vehicles.

The state's largest utility said it is joining 17 other utilities in pledging to support the creation of infrastructure for plug-in electric vehicles.

HECO already has worked to promote the vehicles, including testing electric vehicles in fleets and requiring new sedans purchased for the fleet be hybrid electric vehicles.

The utility also has an agreement with Better Place, a company that wants to install electric vehicle charging and battery swap stations here.
