Students marking blue line to draw attention to climate change

Advertiser Staff

Armed with hundreds of sticks of blue chalk, students from 30 local schools today are taking part in the international Blue Line Project to raise awareness about the potential effects of climate change on Hawaiçi and other coastal areas.

The students will use the chalk to draw a line at 18 sites statewide to indicate the risk of flooding with just one meter of sea level rise.
The event is sponsored locally by the Blue Planet Foundation.
The Blue Line Project is part of an international effort coordinated by 350.org, which seeks to encourage global leaders to enact strong emissions reduction targets as part of an international treaty.
