Nevada romps past Idaho, 70-45

RENO, Nev. — Colin Kaepernick ran for four touchdowns and threw for two others and Nevada finished with 484 rushing yards in a 70-45 victory over Idaho yesterday.

Kaepernick had touchdown runs of 11, 61, 35 and 75 yards for the Wolf Pack and finished with 238 yards on 15 carries. He had scoring passes of 44 and 9 yards and completed 13 of 21 passes for 178 yards.

Nevada (4-3, 3-0 Western Athletic) will host Hawaii on Saturday.

Nathan Enderle passed for 342 yards and four touchdowns, including a pair of 73-yard strikes to Maurice Shaw for Idaho (6-2, 3-1).

The Wolf Pack led 28-24 at halftime, but scored 42 second-half points, including the first two scores of the second half on long runs by Kaepernick.

Vai Taua rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns for Nevada, which has the nation's top rushing offense.

Shaw had five receptions for 183 yards. The Vandals' Max Komar caught three touchdown passes, two from Enderle and one from Brian Reader and finished with 10 catches for 136 yards.

Kaepernick had both his passing touchdowns in the second half, a 44-yard strike to Virgil Green and a 9-yard pass to Luke Lippincott that put Nevada ahead 63-38 with 9:30 left in the game.

Utah State 23, Louisiana Tech 21: Diondre Borel passed for 188 yards and a touchdown and Chris Ulinski kicked three field goals, helping the host Aggies (2-5, 1-2) hold off the Bulldogs (3-4, 2-2). Utah State plays at Hawaii Nov. 7. Louisiana beat Hawaii, 27-6, Sept. 30.

UNLV 34, New Mexico 17: Omar Clayton had 204 yards passing and two touchdowns and Ryan Wolfe had 11 catches for 118 yards as the visiting Rebels (3-5, 1-3 Mountain West) snapped a four-game losing streak, beating the winless Lobos (0-7, 0-3). UNLV beat Hawaii, 34-33, Sept. 19.

Fresno State 34, New Mexico State 3: Ryan Mathews, the nation's leading rusher, gained 157 yards on 25 carries to bring his season total to 1,131 yards, and scored two touchdowns to propel the visiting Bulldogs (4-3, 3-1) past the Aggies (3-5, 1-3). Fresno State beat Hawaii, 42-17, Oct. 10. New Mexico State plays at Hawaii, Nov. 14.

Navy 13, Wake Forest 10: Subbing for injured Ricky Dobbs (left knee), backup quarterback Kriss Procto rushed for 89 yards and scored on a 40-yard run in his first college start to lead the host Midshipmen (6-2) past the Demon Deacons (4-4). The Midshipmen did not throw a pass, running on all 64 of their offensive plays. Navy plays at Hawaii Nov. 28.

Central Arkansas 42, Nicholls State 13: Brent Grimes rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns and Robbie Park threw two TD passes as the host Bears (5-2, 2-1 Southland) rolled past the Colonels (1-6, 0-3). Central Arkansas lost to Hawaii, 25-20, Sept. 4.

California 49, Washington State 17: Kevin Riley threw for touchdowns on his only three passes of the first quarter, and Jahvid Best scored three touchdowns as the host Golden Bears (5-2, 2-2 Pac-10) routed the Cougars (1-6, 0-5). Washington State lost to Hawaii, 38-20, Sept. 12.
