A 22-year-old Waikiki woman told police her ex-boyfriend, 23, punched and tried to strangle her following an argument at their Waikiki apartment last night.

The woman said that although they are no longer boyfriend and girlfriend, they continue to reside together at an apartment on Tusitala Street.
The woman told police the two were arguing when he assaulted her about 8 p.m.
The woman managed to escape from the apartment and call 911, police said.
Arriving officers arrested the man on suspicion of abuse of a family or household member.
The woman suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene, police said.
