Burglary suspect arrested after neighbors give chase

Advertiser Staff

A 39-year-old man was arrested Monday after neighbors of a Käneohe woman chased him down, suspecting he had just burglarized the woman's home.

The neighbors told police they saw the man emerging from the home with a large black bag. They confronted him, and the man took off running.

The chase went on for several blocks and ended when arriving police officers found the man hiding on the roof of another home.

Police reported finding a black bag containing items they believe were taken from the woman's home.

After witnesses identified the suspect, he was arrested about 6:45 p.m. on suspicion of first-degree burglary as well as an outstanding contempt-of-court warrant.
