Weakened winds continue to allow vog to hang over Oahu, but normal trade winds are expected to resume today and will clear the volcanic haze, according to the National Weather Service.

A weakening cold front over Kauai has depressed the Islands’ normal trade winds, allowing vog to move up from the Big Island, according to meteorologist John Bravender.
As a high pressure system builds later today, normal trade wind weather should return, Bravender said.
“The winds are so light that it’s keeping everything stagnant,” he said.
The unusually heavy vog conditions over Oahu mean normal visibility around Honolulu International Airport of 10 miles or more has dropped to just six to eight miles of visibility over the last few days, Bravender said.
