LAST DAYS OF THE KING OF POP

Drawn from more than 100 hours of behind-the-scenes footage, "Michael Jackson's This Is It" offers fans a rare look at the late pop singer's last days as he prepared to embark on a comeback tour this summer in London. The film is compiled from rehearsal footage that was previously unavailable to the the public. The film shows Jackson in the creative process of developing, designing and rehearsing for the series of sold-out shows.

The film footage, which chronicles the months of April through June 2009, has been edited and digitally remastered into IMAX format, and opened Tuesday in IMAX and standard theaters nationwide. "This Is It" will be in theaters for a limited two-week run.

In Honolulu, "This Is It" is screening at Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18, Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 IMAX, Consolidated Ward, Pearlridge West, Regal Windward Stadium 10, Ko'olau Stadium 10, Koko Marina, Regal Pearl Highlands Stadium 12 and Mililani.

Author David Sedaris returns to Honolulu Nov. 6 to read from his latest book of essays, "When You Are Engulfed in Flames." Tickets are on sale now (8 p.m., Blaisdell Concert Hall, $30-$65, www.ticketmaster.com).

Getting plenty of accolades for its clever, touching and wry humor, "White on Rice" opens today at Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 after being screened at the Hawaii International Film Festival last week.
