Temari celebrates its 27th Trash & Treasure fair, a fundraiser for its educational programs, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii's Grand Ballroom.

Artists who participate in the fair are hand picked, by invitation only. Expect carefully chosen ceramics, textiles, beads, prints, craft supplies, books and holiday ornaments.

This year Temari has invited the Pacific Potters Guild, Moiliili Community Center, Hui o Laulima and the Japanese Cultural Center to participate with booths offering unusual holiday gifts.

There's a special addition this year: jewelry designer Barbara Edelstein, who lived in China during the '80s, is selling part of her collection of Chinese embroideries, including garments, collars and trims — the kind of treasures that are not being made in China any longer.

FOR GLOWING COMPLEXION, TRY BOOTS NO. 7 PROTECT & PERFECT

You know how sometimes you notice a friend's skin and it's simply glowing? And you think, hmmm did she just come from the aesthetician? Did she have a chemical peel? Is it Botox?

If she's a really close friend, you ask. That's how I recently learned about Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect Serum. A close friend had discovered that it was the elixir for her skin. It was reducing fine lines and helping her achieve a glowing complexion.

Boots comes from England and this particular product took London by storm, flying off the shelves faster than they could replenish it.

It has been featured by Matt Lauer on the "Today" show and in O magazine. Paula Begoun, the Cosmetics Cop, wrote that it's the silicone base and the vitamin C that make Boots No. 7 serum more effective than many other serums. She doesn't give it rave reviews, but she said it's a good value.

We found it at Target for $21.

NEW AT KAHALA MALL

LET 'THERAPISTS' BE YOUR GUIDE

Tina Wary has no formal retail or design background, but she's the first to attest to her love of fashion. It's her passion that's inspiring her to open Therapy Boutique in Kahala Mall on Monday. Here she has given "retail therapy" a whole new meaning. Style "therapists" will help customers coordinate an outfit to complement their personal style. "Group therapy" events will be offered.

Wary is making it her mission to find lines that were not previously available in Honolulu. She shopped the Magic, Project and Pool shows in Las Vegas, as well as L.A. Market, looking for fresh, new merchandise. Among the offerings: Orion fun frocks from London, Rich & Skinny denim, Love Mert eco-friendly handbags fashioned from vintage fabrics, Voom by Joy Han silk dresses and jewelry by the new local company Sati Gems.

The interior design elements are in keeping with the theme. Created by former Honolulu resident Brian Glover, an Iolani grad who now does interiors for hip L.A. boutiques, it's all about calm, modern spaces, and, natch, a chocolate faux leather therapist's couch.
