MLB: Alex Rodriguez gains home run after video review

PHILADELPHIA — Alex Rodriguez gained a two-run homer after the first use of video technology in World Series history determined the drive by New York's third baseman struck a television camera above the right-field fence at Citizens Bank Park.

With Mark Teixeira on first base and one out in the fourth inning of Game 3 on Saturday night, Rodriguez hit a drive down the line off Philadelphia's Cole Hamels, and the ball bounded back on the field. Rodriguez stopped at second base, with Teixeira holding at third, and A-Rod signaled home run with his hand.

After Yankees manager Joe Girardi came out, the umpires convened and then went inside to check replays. About 1 minute later, they emerged and signaled home run, bringing New York within 3-2 and prompting the crowd to boo.
