Third-ranked Hawai‘i won its 16th straight volleyball match tonight, sweeping Nevada, 25-16, 25-20, 25-17, at the Virginia Street Gym in Reno.

The win gives the Rainbow Wahine (20-2) their 16th consecutive 20-win season. They are 10-0 in the Western Athletic Conference. Since Idaho beat New Mexico State Thursday, every other WAC team has at least three losses.
Hawai‘i closes this road trip Monday at San Jose State. It hosts its final homestand next weekend, against Fresno State (Friday) and Utah State (Sunday).
The Wolf Pack (8-16, 4-7) is fighting for a place in the WAC Tournament, which has been cut to six teams. Five teams are chasing the final three spots, with Nevada falling into sixth with the loss.
The ‘Pack could not keep up early. The ‘Bows had four aces to pull ahead 12-6. They eased to a first-set victory with Amber Kaufman and Kanani Danielson getting four kills apiece.
Nevada kept it close in the final two sets. It won the first three points in Set 2. Hawai‘i rallied to tie it at 8 and it was tied again at 12 before the ‘Bows pulled away.
The final set was tied at 14, before Danielson and Aneli Cubi-Otineru finished the Wolf Pack off.
Danielson finished with a match-high 15 kills and added four blocks. Cubi-Otineru had 11 kills and hit .533, while Kaufman had 10 kills, hit .643 and added 3 aces. Freshman Brittany Hewitt was in on six of UH’s seven stuffs.
The Rainbows out-hit Nevada .394 to .202 and finished with eight aces.
Saint Francis graduate Kylie Harrington had 10 kills to lead the Wolf Pack attack for the 19th time this season.
