'Slow News International' now up at Arts at Marks Garage

In an antithesis of instant messaging, texting and iPhones, the new ARTS at Marks Garageexhibit return to an ancient form of communication: the scroll.
“Slow News International” is on view 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays through Oct. 10.
Text, drawing, painting, photos or digital imagery that fits on a 3-foot-wide scroll which can be mailed in a standard tube was solicited to protest the high cost of transporting art to the Islands.
An artists’ talk and reception, with gallery tour and discussion of the background of various works, is scheduled 6 to 8 p.m., Sept. 17. For information, call 521-2903.
