Alexander & Baldwin Inc. said it has purchased two distribution warehouses in Fullerton, Calif., for an undisclosed price.

The company, through subsidiary A&B Properties Inc., said the buildings with a combined 119,400 square feet of leasable area in the Northpoint Commerce Center industrial park are fully occupied by a records management company and food service distributor.

The purchase is A&B's seventh industrial real estate acquisition in the last two years, bringing the firm's commercial property investment portfolio to 8.5 million square feet of retail, office and industrial space in Hawai'i and eight Mainland states.

AMERICAN ELECTRIC OPENS NEW DIVISION

American Electric Co. LLC, Hawai'i's largest locally owned electrical contractor, is launching a residential division that will provide a wide range of electrical services to Hawai'i homeowners.

The division will first offer residents the CurrentSafe service, which uses thermographic and ultrasonic testing equipment to detect concealed electrical problems within the home. The service previously was only available to commercial and industrial customers. Other electrical services to be offered include wiring, repairs, photovoltaic and home generator installations. As part of the launch American Electric will be offering O'ahu homeowners free assessments of their electrical system components. The assessments take roughly two hours. American Electric's Residential Services will be made available to the Neighbor Islands in early 2010.

Company officials said they are looking to hire licensed electricians and service representatives for the new division. For more information, call Monique at 848-0751.
