With a wildfire entering its fifth day of charring acreage on Molokai, the National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for leeward areas of all islands.

A red flag warning means critical fire weather conditions — a dangerous combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures — are occurring or will occur shortly.
The warning remains in effect until 5 this afternoon .
“Low fuel moisture over leeward areas and strengthening trade winds will increase the fire danger to critical levels today from mid-morning through the late afternoon,” the weather service said in a report.
“Little change is expected on Thursday ... with the possibility of another day of critical fire weather conditions.”
