The median price of homes on Oahu and the volume of sales fell in August compared with the same month a year earlier, according to a report released this morning by the Honolulu Board of Realtors.

The median sales price for a single-family home fell to $566,000 in August, down from $635,000 in August 2008. The median price also was down from $595,000 in July. There were 247 homes sold in August, down 3.1 percent from 255 in August 2008.
Condominium prices also dropped in August, but the volume of sales rose. The median price fell to $290,000, down from $328,000 in August 2008 and down from $312,000 in July. There were 351 condos sold in August, up 1.7 percent from 345 sold the same month a year earlier.
