Young musicians to tape 'From the Top' on Neighbor Islands

Local outstanding young classical musicians and ensembles statewide will have the chance to “appear” on National Public Radio’s award-winning national program, “From the Top,” which has scheduled two tapings on the Big Island.
Hawaii Public Radio has scheduled two tapings, 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at Kahilu Theatre, Waimea, and Jan. 22 at The Kamehameha Schools Hawaii’s William Charles Lunalilo Center, in Keaçau.
“From the Top” is a weekly, hour-long radio showcase of America’s top pre-college-age classical musicians. Now in its 10th year, is joins shows like “A Prairie Home Companion” in top programming.
Previous local tapings of the show have been held in Honolulu and Maui. This is the first on the Big Island.
Audition instructions and forms for soloists and ensembles can be downloaded at http://www.hawaiipublicradio.org. Audition application and sample DVD audition recording deadline is Nov. 16.
