Colt Brennan puts up good stats in final Redskin exhibition game

Advertiser Staff

Former University of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan saved his best NFL exhibition performance for last.

Brennan, who had thrown an interception in each of the previous three exhibition games, completed 10 of 14 passes for 83 yards and helped the Redskins score their 10 points during a 24-17 loss to host Jacksonville.
Brennan, a sixth-round draft pick in 2008 and last year's No. 3 quarterback, is vying to secure the No. 3 spot behind starter Jason Campbell and veteran Todd Collins. Brennan is competing with former Missouri quarterback and free agent Chase Daniel, who struggled early but rallied late in the game.
Both Brennan and Daniel were Heisman Trophy finalists in 2007.
Daniel took over after Campbell played one series.
Daniel played the rest of the half and into the third period. He completed 8 of 16 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. He fumbled once.
