Attorney says Makena Resort not closing

Associated Press

MAKENA, Hawaii — An attorney for Wells Fargo Bank says the threat of the Maui Prince Hotel and Makena Resort closing has disappeared.

Barry Sullivan is an attorney for the bank, which is the trustee for the mortgage lenders.
He said Thursday that the bank is confident there will be a smooth transition to the new resort management company.
The possibility of a closure surfaced after the bank filed a foreclosure complaint against the resort’s owners last month.
Sullivan says all the various interests are in agreement on a plan for uninterrupted operation. He says the plan is expected to be approved Tuesday in Circuit Court.
