Actress Mitzi Gaynor returning to Kauai

Associated Press

LIHUE, Hawaii — Actress Mitzi Gaynor is returning to Kauai for the first time since filming the classic musical “South Pacific” half a century ago.

The Kauai Visitors Bureau said Thursday that Gaynor will make two appearances in early October.
One is “An Afternoon with Mitzi Gaynor,” during which the 77-year-old actress will reflect on her career and the filming of “South Pacific,” most of which was shot on Kauai.
Gaynor says it was “undoubtedly the most beautiful setting I’ve ever had the pleasure to work in.”
She is also to appear at the reopening of the St. Regis Princeville Resort. It’s located where the song “Some Enchanted Evening” was performed in the movie released in 1958.
“South Pacific” also features Gaynor singing “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair.”
