Kapolei library to end passport service

Advertiser Staff

Kapolei Public Library will end its Passport Application Acceptance Service on Sept.15 because of recent budget reductions and the loss of temporary hires. The library has stopped accepting appointments for this service.

With these reductions and the need for the Hawaii State Public Library System to refocus its efforts on providing core library services, extra services such as the Passport Application Acceptance Service will be impacted. Another library — the Kalihi-Palama Public Library — recently cut back the hours for this service.

Kapolei Public Library, in partnership with the Honolulu Passport Agency, U.S. Department of State, volunteered in June 2007 to become a Passport Application Acceptance Facility.

To find out the requirements and fees to obtain a passport, download an application, or for a listing of other public libraries that offer this Passport Application Acceptance Service, visit www.librarieshawaii.org/services/passport1.htm.
