Rites Sept. 19 for slain woman

Iris Napuanani Rodrigues-Kaikana

A service for Iris Napuanani Rodrigues-Kaikana, whose body was found Aug. 24 in an alley next to a public housing project in Kalihi, is set for Sept. 19 at Borthwick Mortuary.

Rodrigues-Kaikana, 18, was a graduate of McKinley High School and worked at the Fort Street Mall McDonald's restaurant. Her nude body was found on the morning of Aug. 24 in an alley adjacent to the Kamehameha Homes, where she was visiting a friend.

The city medical examiner's office said she had been strangled and classified the case as a homicide. No arrests have been made.

Rodrigues-Kaikana is survived by father, Steven Rodrigues; sisters, Irene, Ira and Ilona; brother, Steven "Ikaika"; grandfather, Antonio "Tony" Rodrigues; grandmother, Alice Kaikana.

Visitation is set for 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 19 at Borthwick Mortuary. Service will be at 12:30 p.m. Burial is set for 3 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
