Late touchdown helps Warriors rally for season-opening win |

The Hawai'i offensive line knew it would have its hands full last night.
The Warriors — who gave up an NCAA-record 59 sacks last season — had to deal with Central Arkansas' highly-touted consensus All-American in defensive end Larry Hart.
Early on, it appeared the 6-foot-1, 242-pound Hart would cause problems for the Warriors. On UH's second play from scrimmage, Hart stripped Hawai'i quarterback Greg Alexander of the ball and teammate Markell Carter recovered. The Bears recycled the turnover into the game's first score four plays later.
"He's a great player and we knew he would keep coming at us all night," Warriors' left tackle Aaron Kia said. "He was all over the place."
Hart was the Southland Conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 and named a Football Championship Subdivision All-American by numerous publications and media outlets. His 12 sacks ranked him 12th in the country and he had 21 1/2 tackles for loss, good for sixth nationally.
Last night, Hart finished with just one tackle — a six-yard sack — and he recorded one pass broken up and a quarterback hurry.
GRIMES SCORES THREE TOUCHDOWNS IN LOSS
Central Arkansas running back Brent Grimes did a little bit of everything last night. The 5-foot-9, 194-pound workhorse accounted for all three Bears' touchdowns in the loss.
Grimes punched in a 1-yard TD run early in the first quarter and caught a 4-yard scoring pass from Robbie Park in the second quarter.
"It's tough to lose a game like that," Grimes said. "We played well in the first half and capitalized on some of their mistakes, but we came out kind of flat in the second half, had some three-and-outs and just couldn't recover after that."
The lone UCA score in the second half came on a 1-yard run by Grimes to give the Bears a 20-19 lead early in the fourth quarter.
He finished with a team-high 65 yards on 18 carries and two receptions for seven yards.
WARRIORS HIT THE ROAD FOR 3 GAMES
The Warriors now start the second-longest stretch between home games in the Football Bowl Subdivision this season.
UH plays back-to-back road games at Washington State and UNLV before returning home for a bye week. The Warriors then return to the Mainland for their Western Athletic Conference opener, Sept. 30 at Louisiana Tech.
"I think it'll be good for us," linebacker Corey Paredes said. "It gives the team a chance to do some bonding and hopefully it'll be good for us."
Said defensive tackle Rocky Savaiigaea: "It gives us a lot of time to fix what we didn't do well and make our adjustments."
FORMER UH PLAYER RECEIVES LETTER
Former UH player Michael Irish received a ceremonial letter during halftime from athletic director Jim Donovan.
Irish broke his neck before the first game of the 1971 season, which ended his career.
He is the owner of Halm's Enterprises, which produces Halm's kim chee and Keoki's Lau Lau.
