Police have charged a 64-year-old man with second-degree attempted murder in the stabbing of his wife at their Waipahu home.

Police charged Sol Herminio, 64, in the 12:30 a.m. Saturday incident. Witnesses told police they called police after hearing the woman screaming from a rear bedroom of the house on Puloku Street

They also told police they saw the husband struggling over a knife.

The woman suffered several stab wounds and was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition. Later her condition was upgraded to serious.
