Texas team beats Utah in prep game featuring hakas

Associated Press

ARLINGTON, Texas — The haka duel was a draw. The game went to Euless Trinity High School.

Tevin Williams rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns Monday to lead Trinity to a 42-21 victory against South Jordan (Utah) Bingham.
Before the first high school game at $1.15 billion Cowboys Stadium, both teams pumped up their fans with Polynesian war dances known as hakas. The dances pay homage to the heritage of some of their players.
Three more games followed Trinity’s victory Monday. The next two were Dallas-area matchups — Colleyville Heritage vs. Irving MacArthur and Mansfield Timberview vs. Mansfield Summit.
The finale was a Texas-California matchup featuring Klein Oak from the Houston area and Notre Dame Prep of Sherman Oaks.
