Time Warner to launch wireless broadband in Hawaii early next year

Advertiser Staff

Time Warner Cable has chosen Hawaii as one of markets where it will launch its “4G Mobile” network early next year that will allow customers to receive wireless high-speed data service.

The company did not disclose pricing for the new service, dubbed “Road Runner Mobile,” but said it would be offered at a discount to customers who buy its wired cable TV and broadband services. The new service would compete with Clearwire and other wireless data services.
“We are excited to be bringing out customers the ability to take their Road Runner experience to more locations outside the home, adding the convenience of virtual mobility and speed with Road Runner Mobile,” said Nate Smith President of Oceanic Time Warner Cable, the local Time Warner affiliate.
The service will be launched in Honolulu and on Maui, in addition to Texas and the Carolinas.
