Police have reopened the two right lanes of H-2 Freeway near the Ka Uka Boulevard off-ramp slightly after 3 p.m. following a brushfire in the Waiawa Ridge area.

Earlier, Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig said the fire was partially contained but no percentage was available.
The estimated area burned by today’s flare-up is 5 acres.
HFD has five engines, three tankers and about 30 firefighters helped fight the fire. HFD also used its helicopter but it has since been redirected to another wildland fire in the Waianae area.
HFD is working on completing containment and addressing hot spots within the burned-out area.
Seelig said he could not confirm today’s fire, reported at 11:07 a.m., is the same brushfire that firefighters have been dealing with over the last few days or a new outbreak.
